Jason Damata (CEO, Founder)
LOS ANGELES, CA - Jason has spent more than 15 years helping media companies innovate; from TV networks, magazines and content companies to advertising agencies and media investment houses, to technology platforms that helped reshape the media and TV industries. Damata, named an Ad Age 40 under 40, has worked as a TV host, reporter, producer and marketer, and has owned and operated a telecommunications policy research firm, a magazine and an award-winning restaurant.
Jason Damata has spent more than 20 years on all sides of the media industry.
He is the founder and CEO of Fabric Media, a media incubator and talent consortium focused on media strategies, marketing and business development for companies at the intersection of technology and entertainment.
As the founder, he works closely with executives at TV networks, social networks and media companies to bring new experiences, insights and content strategies to market. Fabric Media is often the outsourced marketing and business development arm of small and mid-sized media organizations—all of which are disrupting the way content is created, distributed, measured or monetized.
Jason manages and co-owns TV[REV], a media analyst group comprised of veteran journalists and business executives who provide counsel, conduct workshops and issue white papers for investors, networks, agencies, and ecosystem players.
Damata specializes in helping media, analytics, advertising and technology companies re-define a market. His marketing and strategy efforts have helped many innovative companies launch or be acquired. From TV platforms Watchwith (Comcast) and Clearleap (IBM) to social commerce companies MeNetwork (Spindle) and Epoxy (Vemba), Damata is in the business of helping media companies navigate and capitalize on change.
He was acting CMO for Trendrr, the first company to quantify real-time social trends, until it was acquired by Twitter, and served as the CMO of bebo.com when it was the world's third largest social network. He was recognized on the 2015 Advertising Age 40 under 40 list and his work has earned Cannes Gold Lions for branded entertainment innovation.
Prior to starting Fabric, Damata worked as a TV host, reporter, producer and marketer, and owned and operated a telecommunications policy research firm, a magazine and an award-winning restaurant.
He spent five years at C-SPAN, and under the tutelage of its founder (hero) Brian Lamb, traveled the country executing marketing events and lobbying for and with the cable industry. His work in politics and media also includes being on the founding team of Fora.TV, the first online video portal to bring together America's best think tanks, and acting as a special advisor to Voxgov, the largest aggregator of federal government communications ever created.
Driven by a deep passion for the environment and positive culture, Jason was an integral part of building the world’s largest live nature streaming network at explore.org (a philanthropic media organization) and the Love Hope Strength Foundation, the world’s leading music-based cancer charity. A student and close friend of Clay Tom Whitehead, former head of the Office of Telecommunications Policy, Jason helped the telecom and satellite pioneer develop a program with George Mason and the National Archives.
With an insatiable appetite and dedication to lifelong learning, he graduated with a BA from the University of Denver with a dual major in journalism and philosophy and minors in international relations and politics.
Jason prides himself with a relentless work ethic, creative approach and immersion into his clients’ businesses. He grew up in Boston and has lived and worked in New York City, Washington D.C., San Francisco, Denver and Los Angeles; where he currently resides with his wife Heidi, son Rio and ridiculously cute dogs Charlotte and Simba. He went gray at age 24.
